Land Sales: As harvest wraps up, record yields and soaring grain prices are fueling a wave of optimism, which could be reflected in the farmland market in the coming months. Harvest is in full force in Minnesota, and the farmland market has entered a temporary lull to make way for farmers who are hyper-focused on collecting their 2026 crop. While farm sales in the past few years could be categorized as slightly down to steady, there is a different feeling this early fall, and optimistic moods may lead to a very strong fourth quarter. This yield realization, matched with the possibility of $5 corn and $12 soybeans for the first time in a long time, is leading many farmers, lenders and brokers to believe we may see quite a few trendsetting November and December land sales. If demand for B- and C-quality land increases in the coming months, it is a good sign that lower-quality farms are in a better financial state than in past years.
